From Galileo's Moon to the qubit: physics at a turning point
In times of profound transformations, physics can be a privileged laboratory for imagining new looks at reality. From Heisenberg's sleepless nights in Helgoland 100 years ago, to today's challenge of the qubit, quantum revolutions show how abandoning classical patterns of reasoning opens up spaces of conceptual and technological freedom. The same paradigm shift went through the Galilean revolution and, three centuries later, the advent of relativity. The talk invites us to read the great crises as creative turning points: occasions in which the scientific community can attempt to construct a new language to make sense of what appears nonsensical.
