Crossing knowledge domain borders on the abstraction vessel: FeBo models in Cadmus

Questo contenuto è disponibile solo in inglese.
The FeBo project brings in the same container data from many different knowledge domains, each with its own models, methods, and widely recognized digital formats. The challenge of this highly multi-disciplinary project is thus merging the depth and peculiarities of each domain with the requirement to integrate them into a uniform data architecture. At the same time, this must be balanced with higher flexibility in models and tools, so to adapt them to constantly evolving digital editions, and with ease of use, so scholars can focus on their content rather than messing with technical details. It will be shown how all these requirements can be satisfied with a modular and higher-abstraction strategy in model design, adopting flexible technologies designed for reuse in the scholarly community, integrating with all the major players in the Academic arena, from TEI to highly structured databases and semantic web, embracing FAIR principles while providing the highest level of customization.
