Beyond the microscope: quantitative image analysis with ImageJ and Matlab
This course introduces the fundamentals of quantitative microscopy, focusing on the image processing and the principles of materials characterization.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in obtaining reproducible data from microscopy images using ImageJ e MATLAB. Topics include image artifact correction, automated segmentation, porosity and size distribution, nanoparticle tracking, and geometrical analysis.
The course also presents practical examples in microstructure analysis and quality control of 3D printed structures, demonstrating how quantitative image analysis can be applied to quality control, manufacturing optimization, and advanced materials development.
The course will be held in both English and Italian.
Schedule
9:00 – 11:00 / 14:00 – 16:00
Speaker
Eugenia Spessot, Researcher of the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Trento.
How to participate
