Beyond Research: well-being, relationships and growth in academia

We are pleased to invite you to a meeting dedicated to PhD candidates and research contract holders, aimed at promoting a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative working environment within the research context. The seminar is organized together with the Committee for Equal Opportunities, Employee Well-being and Non-Discrimination (CUG) and will be led by Dr Torelli, Confidential Counsellor for the University of Trento.

The first part of the meeting will present the role and functions of the Confidential Counsellor, together with an overview of the definitions and main characteristics of phenomena such as workplace bullying, harassment, discrimination, and other situations that may affect well-being in research settings.

The second part will be devoted to dialogue with participants, through an open and interactive discussion on topics relevant to academic life: managing conflicts between supervisors and PhD candidates, mutual expectations between supervisors and early-career researchers, and tools to improve the working climate within research groups.

The event will be held in Italian and represents the first step in a series of regular meetings that we intend to promote on topics of particular interest to our community, with the aim of gradually involving the international component as well.

The initiative stems from needs and requests that have emerged strongly in recent months and is part of the work of the Council of PhD Candidates and Research Contract Holders, with the aim of addressing key issues for academic life in a shared and collaborative way.
