Speaker: Dr. Salvatore D’Arco – SINTEF Energy Research, Norway

The seminar introduces SINTEF Energy Research and its main research areas.

Examples of research project results will then be presented regarding the development of monitoring and protection systems for the transmission grid based on PMUs (Phasor Measurement Units). These projects, carried out in collaboration with the Norwegian transmission system operator Statnett, address the need to ensure operational reliability and proper system functioning even under conditions of high renewable energy generation.

Speaker

Salvatore D'Arco obtained his degree and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II. Since 2011, he has been part of SINTEF Energy Research, where he currently serves as Chief Scientist.

His main research activities concern power electronics, renewable energy integration, and electric power systems.

This seminar is part of the activities of the SunRise Lab.

This research has been funded by the Italian Ministry for University and Research (MUR) through the “Departments of Excellence 2023-27” program (L.232/2016), awarded to the Department of Industrial Engineering.
