Speaker: Ing. Antonella Polimeno Camastra

This seminar presents the role of high-quality Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data as the essential foundation for sustainable engineering and the circular economy.

The research focuses on methodological frameworks for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), using modular "Unit Processes" with traceable supply chains and system models capable of accurately allocating environmental burdens in complex industrial environments.

In addition, a practical case study on zamak production is introduced, designed to model both primary and secondary production routes, prevent data imbalances, and ensure long-term functionality through rigorous mass balance validation.

These advanced data management strategies offer promising evidence-based solutions for industrial environmental assessment and open new perspectives in sustainable product design and engineering decision-making.

Speaker

Antonella Polimeno Camastra is a Mechanical Engineer focused on how data and engineering can support more sustainable industrial systems. Over the past years, she has worked across the energy and industrial sectors - from renewables to metals - gaining international experience along the way.
Her work focuses on analytics, the energy transition, and Life Cycle Assessment. She is currently a Data Analyst at ecoinvent in Zürich, Switzerland.
