Bio: Bruno Rodrigues de Lima is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He holds a law degree from the State University of Bahia and a master’s degree in Law, State and Constitution from the University of Brasília, Brazil. He also holds a doctorate in Legal History from Goethe University Frankfurt and a joint doctorate in Sociology of Law from Europa-Universität Flensburg, Germany, and the University of Brasília, Brazil. He is the author of nine books, including Luiz Gama contra o Império: A luta pelo direito no Brasil da escravidão, as well as five volumes of the Complete Works of Luiz Gama. In 2022, he received the Walter Kolb Prize for the bestdoctoral dissertation at Goethe University Frankfurt, followed in 2023 by the Max Planck Society’s Otto Hahn Medal for outstanding scientific achievement. He was also awarded the 2024 Jabuti Academic Prize for the fith volume of the Complete Works of Luiz Gama.
