The course is focused on electrochemical techniques and methods applied to material characterization (metallic materials and coatings).
The course structure is as follows:
- Lesson 1. Surface analysis techniques: Introductions to the application of electrochemical techniques and near-field microscopies.
- Lesson 2. Electrochemical cell and experimental setup: Fundamental concepts.
- Lesson 3. Electrochemical techniques for corrosion studies: Direct current and alternating current methods (EIS, polarization, voltammetry). Theory and practical cases.
- Lesson 4. Introduction to the scanning microelectrochemical techniques: scanning electrochemical microscope (SECM) and scanning vibrating microscope technique (SVET). General aspects.
- Lesson 5. Amperometric SECM: Fundamentals, applications, and analysis of practical cases.
- Lesson 6. Potentiometric SECM: Fundamentals applications, and analysis of practical cases.
- Lesson 7. SVET: Fundamentals, applications, and analysis of practical cases.
