Family and parenthood in the context of socio-economic development – does economy need family?
Abstract
Michał A. Michalski - PhD. Hab. Professor of Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland. President of the Institute for Family and Society Studies Foundation. Researcher in family policy, cultural demography, economics and business ethics. Member of the Family and Demography Council at the President of Republic of Poland since 2025, member of the Family Council at the Ministry of Family and Social Policy from 2019-2023. In Feb. 2021 he gave a speech on Family and Socio-economic Development. Strategic Role of Pro-family Policy at the Meeting of Ministries of Family and Social Policy of Vysehrad Group (V4). In 2021 he co-authored research and reports: Family Policies in Private Companies in Poland and Costs of Family and Marriages Breakdown in Poland. In 2023 he co-authored the report on family plans of Polish young men and women, in 2024 the report on advantages of parenthood. Author of numerous scientific articles on family/culture/demography/economy. Treasurer of Polish Association of Business Ethics EBEN Poland, member of the Polish Economic Society and Polish Cultural Studies Society.
