An introduction to shape optimisation of light structures

In this talk I will introduce a shape optimisation problem with prescribed mass, arising from models concerning the construction of “robust” structures. In particular, I will focus on partial results concerning the Γ-convergence when the prescribed mass is infinitesimal, obtained by Babadjan, Iurlano and Rindler via techniques of compensated compactness. Finally, I will also briefly present the original scheme proposed by Bouchitte to prove a full Γ-convergence result, which involves the so-called vanishing mass conjecture.
