The protection and valorization of patentable inventions

- research
The speakers will offer a complete and practical overview of the world of patenting, guiding the participants from the definition of the patent and its usefulness to the correct structure to be adopted. The topics discussed will include patentability requirements, with particular attention to novelty and inventive activity, and issues related to pre-disclosure and disclosure of the invention during the period of secrecy. The preventive research necessary to evaluate patentability and to avoid risks of counterfeiting (FTO) will also be addressed, together with the various patenting procedures – the Italian, European and international (PCT) procedures – including a look at the US and Chinese systems. The speakers will also discuss the relationship between patents and utility models, the criteria for choosing one or the other solution – or both – and the strategies for the economical valorization of the patent through assignments and licenses, highlighting opportunities and critical aspects that should be considered.
The session is divided into four parts:
- 20 minutes with Giuseppe Caputo, head of the Division for the Valorization and Impact of Research, who will introduce the subject;
- 40 minutes with the speakers;
- 30 minutes dedicated to the University regulations and the patenting process;
- 30 minutes for questions.
The webinars will be held in Italian.
A certificate of attendance for each webinar can be provided by the Division for the Valorization and Impact of Research, if you have attended at least 70% of the course. Participation by the University's administrative and technical staff (PTA) will be certified by the Secretariat of the Directorate of Research Services and Valorization in collaboration with the Training and Continuing Professional Development Office. The hours of attendance will be recorded and added to the training curriculum of the participants who have attended at least 70% of the course.
