UniTrento students for refugees

Launched in the 2015–2016 academic year and now in its 11th edition, the SuXr project (UniTrento students for refugees) raises awareness on forced migration, helps participants understand the phenomenon, and brings the student community closer to volunteering through a learning-by-doing approach.

SuXr offers students a significant interdisciplinary training opportunity on forced migration and the related integration challenges. These issues are increasingly relevant in terms of active citizenship, cutting across all fields of study while also building specific professional skills.

Training pathway

The programme includes eight in-person sessions, each lasting 2.5 hours, on Fridays from 14:30 to 17:00.

Classes will be delivered primarily by University of Trento faculty from various Departments and Centres, enriched by contributions from third-sector organisations. After the lecture series, you will have the opportunity to begin a volunteering placement with one of the accredited associations.

Participation is free of charge. Sessions will be held in Italian.

Volunteering pathway

On 11 December, from 14:30 to 17:00 at Palazzo Prodi, a meeting will introduce the associations hosting volunteers. At the end of the training sessions, you will be able to choose the organisation that best matches your interests and begin your volunteering placement (75 hours to be completed by 31 December 2027). Activities will vary depending on the association.

Once you have completed the pathway, you and the host organisation will certify the hours and activities carried out. On the basis of this certification, you will be issued a certificate of participation.

ECTS credits (CFU) are awarded according to the procedures established by individual Departments, Centres and Schools: they may count as an internship, as elective credits, or as extra credits. SuXr credits can be recognised only once during your university career.
