Speaker: Anna Schober-de Graaf (University of Klagenfurt)

The last event of the public program of Emotional Intelligence, held at the Galleria Civica di Trento (in collaboration with the Municipality of Trento) and curated by Lisa Maturi, Ginevra Perruggini, Giuseppe Scalia along with Swami Agosta (Officina Espositiva - University of Trento), will be dedicated to the deep and complex relationships between empathy and visual arts. Prof. Anna Schober-de Graaf will present her new research in this field, by intending visual arts as a specific and particular medium for conveying empathy in social relations. Anna Schober's studies extensively dealt with visual culture and public life, especially focusing on historic, political, aesthetic, and affective aspects. She's the author of The Cinema Makers. Public Life and the Exhibition of Difference in South-Eastern and Central Europe since the 1960s (Intellect Books, 2013) and edited the volume Popularisation and Populism in the Visual Arts: Attraction Images (Routledge 2019).
