Games with unawareness are a relatively new research area in game theory, developed mainly over the past decade. They allow players to be unaware of certain aspects of strategic decision-making; for example, players may have limited perception and fail to recognize all available actions or even the existence of other players. This framework extends the traditional model of games with incomplete information and enables the analysis of a wide range of realistic situations, as unawareness is a natural state of mind for decision makers. The talk introduces the key concepts and ideas of games with unawareness and illustrates their applicability, assuming only basic knowledge of game theory. It also briefly presents related recent work in the area.
