PhD Event of Curriculum 4 Astrobiology, Life Sciences and Space Medicine
Program Overview
Curriculum 4 of the PhD SST, Astrobiology, Life Sciences and Space Medicine, brings together doctoral projects on the biological and medical questions raised by space exploration, with a strong focus on the human being: how body and mind adapt to microgravity, radiation, isolation and confinement, and which countermeasures, health-monitoring tools and habitat designs can sustain crew health and performance on long-duration missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond. Candidates are trained by a nationwide consortium of universities and research institutes, coordinated by the University of Trento, in close partnership with national and European space agencies. International mobility is a core element of the programme: doctoral students are expected to join collaborations, attend conferences and undertake research stays abroad as their projects develop.
