Fractions have long been recognized as one of the more challenging concepts to teach and learn in mathematics. Drawing on findings from a multi-year, classroom-based research initiative in Canada, Re-Thinking Fractions—a book by Dr. Cathy Bruce, Tara Flynn, and Shelley Yearly—presents eight foundational concepts to support students in learning fractions. The book offers practical, hands-on experiences designed to deepen students' understanding through active engagement. Come and explore the research design that shaped this project, discover key findings, and engage in some of the classroom lessons eveloped to support student learning.
