Abstract

This talk will focus on surfaces of general type with canonical map generically finite of degree d>4. 

After discussing the general properties of the canonical map of surfaces of general type,  some work in progress (together with R. Pardini and  R. Pignatelli) on surfaces with canonical maps of odd degree will be presented.
