The objective of this workshop is to explore how public decision-makers can effectively incorporate evidence regarding biodiversity, ecosystem services, and ecosystem conditions into policy processes. Through keynotes, breakout rooms, and interactive sessions, experiences and lessons learned from seven public Demonstration Projects (DPs) across diverse sectors, ecosystem types, and socio-cultural contexts throughout the EU and its overseas regions will be shared. Furthermore, these DPs serve as practical examples of how decisions made at various spatial and temporal scales can be enhanced through the application of innovative methods and indicators.

By employing a transdisciplinary approach that incorporates authorities, stakeholders, and citizens, participants will explore both the opportunities and challenges of bridging knowledge gaps and ensuring that scientific evidence informs public policy effectively. Insights from the workshop will aid in refining methodological approaches and enhancing the decision-support value of ecosystem-based evidence throughout the SELINA project.
